Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash in Fresno County
FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. – A fatal Fresno County car crash involving multiple vehicles on Interstate 5 has claimed the life of a 21-year-old woman. The multi-vehicle collision happened early Thursday morning near Highway 33 and left several others injured. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is actively investigating the cause of the deadly I-5 accident.

The crash happened around 5:00 a.m. Thursday on southbound I-5 near Highway 33. Multiple cars collided in a chain reaction that shut down part of the highway.
Fresno County CHP Report: How the Multi-Vehicle Collision Unfolded
According to CHP, Orlando Pinales, 24, from San Jose, drove his 1997 Honda Del Sol onto the right shoulder of I-5. He then crashed into a 2016 Nissan Rogue, driven by Adan Delgadillo Ruiz, 49, of Truckee.
The impact spun the Honda back into the traffic lanes. As it came to rest, Manuel Berrospe, 27, of Los Banos, approached in his 2021 Hyundai Sonata and slammed into the back of the Honda. The crash pushed the Honda into a nearby cable barrier.
Just seconds later, Maria Mendoza, 22, of Mendota, drove her 2002 Toyota Camry into debris from the crash. Her car hit a loose tire that had flown off the Honda.
Fatal Fresno County Traffic Accident Leaves Young Woman Dead
Medics airlifted a 21-year-old woman from the Honda to Community Regional Medical Center (CRMC) in Fresno. Despite emergency care, she died at the hospital. Authorities have not yet released her name.
Paramedics also transported several other crash victims to CRMC. Doctors expect them to recover.
This tragic Fresno County car crash highlights the dangers of highway driving and the unpredictability of multi-vehicle collisions.
