Fresno, CA – A Fresno County crash results in one death and seven injuries, including four children
FRESNO, CA – The California Highway Patrol reported that following a two-vehicle collision in Fresno County on Wednesday morning, one woman died and three adults and four children suffered major to critical injuries.
According to CHP officials, the CHP was called to a serious injury crash on Jefferson Avenue and Clovis Avenue at at 10:00 a.m. According to a preliminary inquiry, a Chevy Malibu with just the driver inside was driving south on Clovis Avenue. For unknown circumstances, a Mercedes Benz with three adults and four children inside was either heading north on Clovis Avenue, doing a u-turn in front of the Malibu, or was traveling south on Jefferson Avenue when it crossed immediately in front of the Malibu.
Officers claim that the Malibu hit the Mercedes broadside, on the right side. Everyone in the cars suffered significant to critical injuries in the incident, and one adult female was found dead on the scene. While the other two suffered serious injuries and were sent to a nearby hospital, two of the children in the Mercedes are currently in extremely critical condition. They were between the ages of two and four.
The Fresno County Fire Department responded to the location to help two people who were trapped in a Mercedes and needed “Jaws of Life.” According to CHP, they are also in severe condition. Major injuries were sustained by the other adults involved, including the Malibu’s driver.
Alcohol and narcotics were not a factor in this accident, according to CHP, but rather a mistake on the part of the driver of the Mercedes, which was overloaded with two passengers and lacking two car seats for two of the kids.
