Santa Maria, CA – Rollover crash leaves one dead
SANTA MARIA, CA – According to the California Highway Patrol, a Santa Maria man was killed in a rollover car accident early Wednesday morning.
A crash was reported on Highway 1 north of Black Road around 5:20 a.m. Wednesday, officer Maria Barriga said. An occupant of a car had possibly ejected from it after it rolled over in a farm field, according to Barriga. Sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene and declared the 29-year-old driver dead.
Barriga said HP officers determined the accident took place several hours before emergency personnel were called, when a northbound 2005 Honda Civic swerved off the roadway, flipped multiple times, and ejected its driver. The collision may not have been reported earlier due to its location and limited visibility in the dark early morning hours.
Authorities have not yet released the driver’s identity.
