Madera, CA – One person airlifted after head-on collision near Madera
MADERA, CA – Following a collision near Madera, a woman was airlifted after being pinned in a vehicle. Officers say that around 5:50 p.m. a car driven by Guadalupe Tijerina from Fresno was traveling south on State Route 41 north of Road 406 at an undetermined speed.
Tijerina crossed over double yellow lines into the northbound lane and collided with an oncoming truck for reasons undetermined by investigators. As the car drove past Tijerina, the driver spun out and collided with a rock embankment east of Highway 41, police said. Tijerina was trapped in her vehicle, and firefighters had to free her. The collision seriously injured Tijerina, who was airlifted to receive medical treatment.
According to officials, the truck came to rest on its wheels and its two occupants sustained minor injuries.
The crash was not caused by drugs or alcohol, according to CHP officers, and is still under investigation.
