Fresno, CA – A man dies in a construction zone crash on Hwy 99
FRESNO, CA – Officials say a man was killed in a crash on Highway 99 in a construction zone.
California Highway Patrol officials responded to reports of a vehicle collision in a construction zone at approximately 1:14 a.m. on Monday. CHP officials reported that a 28-year-old male from Merced was driving northbound on Highway 99 after using a closed on-ramp at Applegate Road.
When the driver reached the end of the newly paved roadway, he struck a piece of concrete railing on the side of the road and overturned, according to investigators.
The roof of the vehicle hit a paving machine in the construction zone, according to the report. Sadly, the driver died at the scene.
The crash is still under investigation, and police believe alcohol was not a factor in the incident.
