VISALIA, CA (February 06, 2022) – Police in Visalia report that a person died after they were struck by a car while chasing a loose dog on Wednesday night.
A car hit someone in the area of County Center Drive and Victor Avenue around 7:30 p.m., according to police. An officer arrived on the scene and found a person lying in the road. They later pronounced the person dead. Officers say the person was walking a dog on a leash when the animal slipped away and ran across the street.
When the owner tried to catch the dog, they ran into the road and were hit by a car. At this time, neither the age nor gender of the deceased has been disclosed.
Officers are still investigating, but don’t believe drugs or alcohol were involved in the crash.
