Santa Rosa, CA – A fatal crash occurred near Healdsburg on Highway 101
SANTA ROSA, CA (February 19, 2022) – A fatal car crash took place on US-101 in the North Bay on Monday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol. According to CHP Santa Rosa, the crash occurred on the southbound lanes at Healdsburg Ave. and Old Redwood Highway around 1:38 p.m. Traffic was diverted at Healdsburg Ave. and Old Redwood Highway due to the closure of the southbound lanes.
An accident involving several vehicles occurred around 1:02 p.m. and blocked both lanes, according to authorities. CHP reports one death and two major injuries.
A Dodge pickup, driven by Todd Beth, 47, of Santa Rosa, was speeding down southbound lanes toward traffic that was slowed by construction. Police say the pickup truck did not slow down and slammed into a white Subaru and a black Hyundai Tucson.
Hyundai received major damage and veered back into a Chevrolet pickup after hitting a guardrail. A Subaru was also pushed into a blue Hyundai. According to authorities, the drivers of those vehicles were driving at a slower speed for a construction zone.
There were three women in the black Hyundai Tucson, and one of them died in the back seat. The other two were taken to the hospital for treatment. Todd Beth was also taken to the hospital to be treated and cooperated with the investigation.
There were no other injuries reported. Authorities do not believe that drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
