Pedestrian Fatalities in California

Pedestrian accidents kill over 900 people every year in California. These accidents have increased drastically over the past decade as more people are heading out to travel on foot.

No matter the amount of safety laws and measures enacted to protect those walking, jogging, and running along our roads, we continue to see people lose their lives at an alarming rate. In fact, the total pedestrian fatality rate in California is around 25% higher than the national average, presenting a real problem for our residents.

In most cases, pedestrians are struck by vehicles operated by distracted, impaired, and reckless drivers. While we may be vigilant about protecting others with whom we share the road, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to take us into consideration while driving.

As a result, we see numerous people fatally injured in accidents in California that could have been prevented. These accidents often have an overwhelming impact on families who are left to endure the mental, physical, and financial challenges of an unexpected loss.
