Running Springs, CA – Driver Trapped, Injured in Head-on Collision on Hwy 18
Running Springs, CA (January 16, 2022) – On Tuesday, January 11th, at about 3:30 p.m., emergency crews responded to reports of a two-car accident with entrapment on Highway 18 in San Bernardino County.
Upon their arrival, firefighters located two heavily damaged vehicles that had been involved in a head-on collision. One was fully engulfed in flames and the other had just started to catch and still had someone trapped inside.
After extricating the victim, they were taken by ambulance to a regional trauma center.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation. It is unknown if the driver that lost control of his vehicle was under the influence.
CHP closed down the highway in both directions for about two hours resulting in major traffic backups that stretched for miles.
