Fresno, CA – Fresno County officials identify 21-year-old killed in car wreck
FRESNO, California (January 3, 2021) – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the person killed in a traffic collision Saturday.
At the time of the crash, Jesus Meza-Leyva, 21, from Caruthers, was possibly living in Clovis. According to CHP, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. around Highway 168 and Auberry Road, east of the interstate.
Officers reported that Meza-Leyva was driving westbound on Highway 168 in a Toyota MR2 when the collision occurred. Meza-Leyva lost control of the vehicle after navigating a crest in the road, according to authorities. After spinning out, the MR2 entered the eastbound lane, crashing into a pickup truck traveling that way. The CHP officers reported that Meza-Leyva died at the scene. A pickup truck driver reported no injuries following the collision, according to officials.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to have played a role in the crash, and the crash is currently being investigated.
