Bakersfield, CA – Two Police Officers Run Over by Car on White Lane near S Real Rd
Bakersfield, CA (February 28, 2021) – One man was arrested after he ran over two Bakersfield Police officers this past Thursday, February 25. At around 1:25 a.m, paramedics were dispatched to the scene of the incident that occurred on White Lane.
Two officers were working on a felony vandalism investigation on White Lane in the 3800 block near South Real Road. Their suspect, identified as 35-year-old Rogelio Salazar, was sitting in the driver’s seat of a nearby car with his door open.
When police attempted to speak to Salazar, he attempted to drive away with his driver’s side door still open, striking one of the officers with it and causing him to fall underneath the car. Salazar drove over the officer’s legs and a foot of the second officer, according to reports.
Regardless of his attempt to flee, Salazar was still arrested. Both officers were transported to a nearby medical center for the treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
