Bakersfield, CA (September 20, 2020) – An accident reported on Saturday morning in Kern County claimed one victim’s life. At approximately 11:05 a.m., on September 19, the California Highway Patrol responded to the scene of a motor vehicle accident on California State Highway 178.

Reports provided by local news sources show that a motorcyclist was traveling on California State Highway 178 when their vehicle collided head-on with a Kern County Sheriff’s Office patrol vehicle in the Upper Richbar Picnic area.

The rider was fatally injured in the accident. Emergency crews responded to the site and immediately declared the victim deceased at the scene. At this time, the incident remains under investigation.
