Fresno County, CA – Three cars collide near Bishop and Shaw, killing one driver

Torem & Associates

Fresno County, CA (January 14, 2022) – Friday night, a driver was killed in a three-car accident in Fresno County.

The California Highway Patrol says they were called around 8 p.m. to an accident near Shaw and Bishop avenues. Officers found three vehicles involved in a crash when they arrived.

The driver of a red Camaro was heading eastbound on Shaw Avenue when he attempted to turn left onto Bishop Avenue. The Camaro crashed into a grey Honda Accord headed westbound on Shaw during this time.

After spinning out, the Camaro crashed into a Cadillac behind the Accord, and the Camaro rolled over. Sadly, the driver of the Camaro, identified only as a man in his 60s, died at the scene.

It is possible the thick fog played a role in the accident, as the CHP says they noticed it when they arrived on scene.

Fatal Car Accidents in California

Each year, over 3,400 people die in automobile accidents in California. Even though most vehicle accidents are preventable, we continue to witness the effects they have on families in our state.

Over 80% of accidents are caused by reckless or negligent driving on the part of another driver. The most common causes of collisions in our state are drunk driving, reckless driving, speeding, distracted driving, and ignoring traffic control devices.

Families of those killed are often left to deal with overwhelming mental and emotional consequences while trying to pick up the pieces of their lives and move forward.
