Torem & Associates

Bakersfield, CA (November 29, 2021) – A 44-year-old woman and a 7-year-old boy were both transported to Kern Medical after they were struck by an SUV on Niles Street on Monday, November 29th.

According to reports, at about 8:00 a.m. California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of pedestrians struck by a car at the intersection of Catalpa Way and Niles Street in Bakersfield.

When officers arrived on the scene, two pedestrians had been struck by an SUV, and the driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

According to CHP, the driver of the SUV was traveling southbound on Catalpa Way and was preparing to make a left turn onto eastbound Niles Street.

The woman and child were pedestrians crossing Niles Street inside of a marked crosswalk when a woman driving an SUV entered the intersection. She failed to notice the two pedestrians in the crosswalk and proceed to make a lefthand turn, striking the woman and child.

The woman sustained non-critical injuries and the boy was seriously injured. Both were taken to Kern Medical Hospital.

Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
