Merced, CA – CHP reports that a driver was killed in a rollover crash in Merced
MERCED, CA – A man was killed in a deadly rollover collision on the 99 in Merced on Wednesday afternoon, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
North of Franklin Road, in the first lane of northbound 99, the CHP responded to a collision. According to the authorities, a sedan with significant rollover damage had been overturned off the road.
According to investigators, a 67-year-old driver was moving at an unknown speed north of Franklin Road along the first lane of northbound 99. The sedan rolled many times as a result of the driver’s next right turn, which allowed the automobile to leave the east shoulder of the 99.
The 47-year-old front-seat passenger was taken to a nearby hospital after suffering moderate injuries, according to CHP. The Merced Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of the driver, who was pronounced dead.
According to officials, neither alcohol nor narcotics played a role in what led to the crash. At the time of the occurrence, neither victim is known to have been wearing a seatbelt. Investigations into the crash’s cause are ongoing.
