Apple Valley, CA – A hit-and-run off-road crash has killed one juvenile and injured another
APPLE VALLEY, CA – A hit-and-run driver has killed one juvenile and left another in critical condition after a collision with an off-road vehicle. Approximately 8:59 p.m. on July 2, 2022, dispatch received a call from a bystander who found two unconscious juveniles on Stoddard Wells Road.
Initially, the two juveniles were riding a 2019 TaoTao ATV on Stoddard Wells Road traveling northeast. The unknown driver of an orange Side-by-Side UTV model year 2019-2022 was traveling eastbound on Stoddard Wells Road, east of Central Road. A Side-by-Side UTV struck the 2019 TaoTao and the two juvenile riders.
Despite life-saving measures, the 12-year-old boy succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. AMR transported an 11-year-old girl to St. Mary’s Hospital for treatment, and she was then flown to Loma Linda University Medical Center for further treatment.
CHP and San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department personnel searched extensively for the Side-by-Side UTV and its driver, but were unsuccessful.
Officials are actively investigating the crash and searching for the Side-by-Side driver.
