FRESNO COUNTY, CA – California Highway Patrol reports that a toddler was killed after being hit by a truck at a recreation area in Fresno County on Saturday night. Officers responded around 6:40 p.m. to the Lost Lake Recreation Area near Friant after it was reported that a toddler had been struck by a vehicle. During an investigation, officers discovered that a 2-year-old boy had walked out into the roadway and was struck by a truck as it drove slowly through the park.

The driver who hit the toddler immediately pulled over and called 911. During the investigation, the driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with officers
Drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been involved in the crash, according to police. In addition to the California Highway Patrol, deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office were called out to block off the entrance to the park.
Authorities have not provided any other details at this time.
