Orland, CA – Second collision on I-5 after fatal crash
ORLAND, CA (February 5, 2022) – In the Orland area on Friday afternoon, portions of Interstate 5 were blocked by two traffic accidents, one fatal.
The California Highway Patrol reports that a red pickup truck overturned just south of the County Road 20 overpass around 12:45 p.m. An unidentified driver was ejected from the truck and died at the scene. According to the CHP, the tire appeared to have separated from the thread on the right rear.
A few minutes later, a second accident involving two big rigs occurred just south of the County Road 16 exit. According to the CHP, a previous traffic collision had caused traffic in the area to slow down, and the driver of this big rig slammed into the back of another, causing significant damage. The driver was treated for minor injuries.
