Tulare, CA – Tulare man killed by suspected drunk driver, police say
TULARE, California (January 3, 2021) – According to Tulare Police, a man was struck and killed while crossing a street by a suspected DUI driver on Sunday night.
A vehicle struck a man crossing the street near Bardsley Street and Spruce Avenue around 5:30 p.m. Police are unsure whether the man was in a crosswalk at the time. Police say the victim suffered major injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he later died.
Officers spoke with the driver of the vehicle, identified as 41-year-old Danny Correa, and say he showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs. Correa was reportedly evaluated by officers at the scene and found to be possibly intoxicated.
Correa was arrested following the crash and booked into the Tulare County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and vehicular manslaughter.
