Car Accidents in California
On roadways throughout California, car accidents are a regular occurrence. These accidents often cause gridlock and rubbernecking, making traveling safely seem like an impossibility for tens of thousands of residents. Annually, more than 150,000 people are hurt in car accidents in California alone.
While a major portion of auto accidents cause nothing more than comparatively minor annoyances, such as property damage and minor injuries, thousands of other victims will need emergency medical treatment and long-term hospitalization for their injuries.
Car accidents, particularly those that happen at higher speeds, are more likely to leave victims with broken and fractured bones, brain damage, and spinal cord injuries, all of which will demand extensive medical treatment.
In most cases, car accidents are the result of driver negligence. This negligence can include texting or using cellphones while driving, drunk driving, speeding, disregarding traffic control devices, and engaging in unsafe driving behaviors.
