Corcoran, CA (January 07, 2022) – According to Corcoran Police Department officials, a man was arrested in connection with a hit and run death in Corcoran on Thursday.

Just before 10:00 p.m. on Dec. 19, officers responded to an injury traffic collision near Whitley and Pickerell avenues. Officers say they found two vehicles with “major damage” at the intersection.

Benjamin Brunn, 34, was found unconscious and not breathing at the scene, according to authorities.

Despite trying to save Brunn’s life, medical personnel pronounced him dead.

Authorities say the driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot with other subjects before officers arrived.

Police investigating the incident have identified the driver as Malaquias Guzman, 37, of Corcoran, and have issued an arrest warrant for Guzman.

Police say that Guzman was arrested at his workplace on Thursday and booked into the Kings County Jail.

Wrongful Death Lawyer In California

Approximately 6,000 pedestrians die in traffic-related incidents each year in the United States. California accounts for 15 percent of all pedestrian deaths. While our lawmakers have consistently worked to protect pedestrians, they are still victimized on a daily basis. Distracted, impaired, and reckless drivers often hit pedestrians. Even though we try to keep other motorists safe on the road, we cannot anticipate whether other motorists will see us.

Vehicle accidents can result in serious injuries. Since pedestrians are not protected from the force of vehicles, the chances of being injured are higher in accidents involving them. Any loss of a loved one is difficult, but when that loss occurs due to an accident that could have been prevented, it is even more devastating. California wrongful death attorneys can provide legal guidance when pedestrians die in preventable accidents.
