Stanislaus County, CA – Summer Gardner-Vigil Hit and Killed while Riding Horse on E Harding Rd
Stanislaus County, CA (August 15, 2021) – A teenager identified as Summer Gardner-Vigil, 19, was killed in a traffic accident in Stanislaus County on Wednesday, August 11. Sources indicate that the teen was riding her horse when she was hit by a car.
According to reports, the wreck happened on East Harding Road in the right lane when a Chevy pickup truck was headed north on Youngstown Road. The truck driver stated that he reached for something in his truck and took his eyes off of the roadway for a minute.
When he looked back at the roadway, he noticed the teenager on the horse and tried to veer left, but it was too late. The truck rotated counter-clockwise and collided with the horse, who died on impact.
Garner-Vigil was ejected from the horse and sustained major injuries. She was transported to a hospital in Modesto for treatment.
It was reported on Saturday, August 14 that Garner-Vigil lost her life in the hospital. The driver, 27-year-old Isaac Leal, was not injured in the wreck.
