Fresno, CA – Marquise Smith & One Other Die in Crash on Hwy 41 near O Street, Another Woman Injured
Fresno, CA (August 23, 2021) – Two people lost their lives in a car accident in south Fresno on Saturday, August 21. At around 2:00 p.m., the wreck occurred in the area of Highway 41 and O Street. How and why the collision took place remains unknown at this time.
Police stated that a vehicle struck the center median and veered toward the O Street off-ramp where it struck a tree and burst into flames. Police arrived moments later and managed to pull an unconscious woman from the driver’s seat as the fire started.
EMS crews then pulled a male passenger from the vehicle, identified as a 23-year-old resident of Fresno, Marquise Smith. Both victims were transported to Community Regional Medical Center where the passenger was pronounced deceased.
The driver is currently in the hospital with critical injuries. Authorities in Fresno continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
