Torem & Associates

Fresno, CA (March 6, 2021) – One woman has lost her life after she was struck by a car in southwest Fresno on March 5. Just after 7:00 p.m., police and emergency medical services were dispatched to the scene of the collision at the intersection of Grove and Elm Avenues.

According to reports, the driver who hit the woman fled the scene without stopping to render aid or wait for authorities. The suspect’s vehicle is described as a four-door silver or light-gray sedan, possibly a 2015 to 2020 Kia Optima with major front-end damage, according to officials.

A witness at the crash scene attempted to render emergency CPR to the woman after the crash, but the woman had already lost her life. Responding medical professionals pronounced her deceased at the site of the accident.

We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the family of the deceased victim at this time.

Police in Fresno continue to investigate the circumstances of the collision.

Pedestrian Crashes in Fresno

Every year, around 6,000 pedestrians lose their lives in traffic-related incidents throughout the United States. Roughly 15% of fatal pedestrian accidents happen right here in California. Although our lawmakers consistently work to protect pedestrians while sharing roads with drivers, they continue to be victimized daily. In many cases, pedestrians are struck by vehicles operated by distracted, impaired, and reckless drivers. Although we can be vigilant to protect others who are sharing the road, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to take us into consideration while driving.

Any vehicle collision has the potential to cause catastrophic injuries for those involved. Pedestrians involved in accidents are at a heightened risk of suffering injuries given the fact that they are unprotected against the force of vehicles. Although losing a loved one is challenging under any circumstance, knowing that your loved one lost their life in an accident that could have been prevented just makes the situation even more devastating. When victims lose their lives in preventable pedestrian accidents, their families can contact a wrongful death attorney in California for legal guidance.

California accident attorneys at Torem & Associates have nearly 40-years of experience provided trusted and effective legal representation to families throughout Los Angeles County who have lost loved ones in preventable accidents due to the negligence of others. If your loved one lost their life in a preventable accident, contact our personal injury attorneys in California at (888) 500-5000 to discuss legal options available to help you recover.
