Bakersfield, CA – Bakersfield’s ‘Big Shoe’ is damaged by a car crash
BAKERSFIELD, CA – On Wednesday morning, a car struck Bakersfield’s famous “Big Shoe” structure. At before 11 a.m., emergency personnel were called to the intersection of Chester Avenue and 10th Street due to a report of an accident.
The building housing Big Shoe Repair appears to have been struck by at least two vehicles, at least one of which plowed through it. Felipe Lopez, the company’s owner, told 17 News he was shocked but the only person in the building at the time of the collision. Three young people were traveling in one of the automobiles, said Bakersfield Police. It was unclear right away if anyone had been hurt.
