FRESNO, CA – The California Highway Patrol reported that a woman was killed in a rollover accident with two children and their father present.

According to representatives of the Fresno County Coroner’s Office, Angelica Lepiz, 31, was killed in a collision close to Manning and Porter avenues. Deputies from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the area about 12:10 a.m. on Friday after it was reported that someone could be heard calling for assistance.

In the driver’s seat of an overturned car in a neighboring orange grove, deputies discovered a woman who had died from her wounds when they arrived. Authorities reported that a guy and his two kids, a 2-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy, were also discovered inside the vehicle.

The two kids, who were restrained in their car seats, escaped the collision unharmed and are now in a relative’s care. The father of the kids was brought to a nearby hospital with moderate wounds. Whether the woman was the children’s mother has not been made clear by the authorities.

According to investigators, DUI may have contributed to the collision.
