ATWATER, CA – On Wednesday morning in Atwater, two pedestrians were struck by a minivan and died at the spot.

Around 9:30 a.m., patrol officers were requested to the intersection of Juniper Avenue and Augusta Lane. When police arrived on the scene, a minivan had struck two pedestrians before slamming into a light pole, according to the police.

According to investigators, the car’s driver remained at the site and is helping with the inquiry. Police say they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision and what led to the car off the road and hitting the pedestrians.

After the authorities have contacted the pedestrians’ next of kin, their identities will be made public.
