Madera County, CA – CHP reports driver and dog killed in Madera County accident
MADERA COUNTY, CA – The California Highway Patrol reports that one person was killed and three people were hurt in a two-vehicle collision in Madera County.
Around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, two vehicles were involved in a collision, according to CHP officers, who were called to the scene. The black Mini Cooper and the gold Toyota Tacoma collided broadside.
According to police, the Mini Cooper was on Road 208 and heading toward a stop sign. The Tacoma was traveling southbound on Highway 41. The Mini Cooper abruptly accelerated in front of the Tacoma for an unforeseen reason. The Tacoma then broadsided the Mini Cooper from the driver’s side as a result.
According to CHP, the male passenger in the Mini Cooper suffered serious injuries and had to be airlifted to a trauma hospital, while the female driver of the vehicle was confirmed dead at the spot. A tiny puppy that had died was also found inside the vehicle. Both the Tacoma’s male driver and passenger suffered moderate to serious injuries.
Officers assert that they do not think that drugs or alcohol played a role. After being removed by CHP and Caltrans, the nearby roadways are once again open.
