Fresno, CA – The driver of a deadly Fresno County crash has been identified
FRESNO, CA – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office officials have identified the man accused of killing one person in a suspected DUI crash over the weekend. A fatal crash near Highway 180 and Shasta Avenue on Saturday night led to the arrest of 27-year-old Antonio Orosco.
A head-on car crash involving two vehicles was reported to the California Highway Patrol around 9:15 p.m. Five people were found injured in one of the cars when officers arrived.
Sandy Mendoza, 20, of Mendota, was pronounced dead at the scene, while four other passengers were taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. Orosco was also taken to a local hospital after he was found in the other vehicle with major injuries.
According to officers, Orosco might have been under the influence of drugs when he allowed his vehicle to cross over into the opposite lane of traffic, slamming into another vehicle head-on. A charge of vehicular manslaughter will be filed against Orosco once he is released from the hospital.
