Kerman, CA – According to the CHP, a 20-year-old woman died in a crash in Mendota
KERMAN, CA – California Highway Patrol officers arrested a 27-year-old man for allegedly driving under the influence of drugs after he crashed head-on into a vehicle and killed a 20-year-old woman. Around 9:15 p.m., officers from the California Highway Patrol responded to a crash on Highway 180 east of Shasta Avenue. On Highway 180 east of Shasta Avenue, Antonia Orosco of Fresno was driving a Honda sedan westbound.
A 20-year-old Mendota woman was driving eastbound on Highway 180 east of Shasta Avenue in an Acura. According to CHP officers, Orosco allowed his vehicle to cross over into the opposing eastbound lane in front of Acura while driving impaired. As a result of the head-on collision in the eastbound lane, both vehicles sustained major damage.
A CHP officer said the Acura’s driver was pronounced dead at the scene after suffering critical injuries. The Acura’s passengers suffered major to moderate injuries and were transported to a local hospital. Orosco also sustained major injuries and was taken to the hospital.
