Sanger, CA – Police say a car crashed into a swimming pool at the Sanger Community Center full of kids
SANGER, CA – Several children were in a pool when a woman crashed her car into it on Wednesday night, the Sanger Police Department reports. She is being investigated for driving under the influence. Officers were called to the Sanger Community Center at 8:40 p.m. after a car was reported to have gone into a pool at Recreation Avenue and 8th Street.
Officers found a submerged car outside the center when they arrived. According to police, the driver missed a turn and smashed through two fences around the community center.
The car continued forward after hitting the fence, crashing into the pool, where 25 children were swimming. There were no injuries reported among the children in the pool. Lifeguards and Good Samaritans quickly jumped into action and pulled the driver and passenger from the car. The passenger suffered minor injuries.
While the cause of the crash is unknown, police say the driver is being investigated for driving under the influence. They are working on removing the car from the water.
