Fresno, CA – Deputies say a man died after crashing his truck into a canal in Fresno County
FRESNO, CA – Fresno County Sheriff’s Office reports a truck driver died after crashing into a canal on Saturday night. Deputies responded to a report of a vehicle struck a canal near Valentine and Church avenues around 11:15 p.m.
They found a truck stuck on an embankment near the edge of the canal when they arrived. Investigators said they were unable to locate anyone in the truck after searching it.
After searching the canal, firefighters from Cal Fire found the driver, 60-year-old Jose Aguilar, about half a mile away from where the truck was.
Aguilar was taken to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, according to officials.
Investigators suspect alcohol may have been a contributing factor in this crash.
