Santa Barbara, CA – Isla Vista car crash leaves 3 dead, 5 injured
SANTA, BARBARA – At approximately 4:50 p.m., three cars collided at the intersection of El Colegio Road and Stadium Road. The crash killed three people and injured five others.
According to reports the driver ran a red light recklessly, resulting in heavy extrication of some victims from the wreckage. One of the vehicles ran off the road and struck a tree.
The California Highway Patrol, the University of California Police Department, and the Santa Barbara County Fire Department all responded to the collision. Fire Capt. and Public Information Officer Daniel Bertucelli said that a “multi-casualty incident” had been declared after the collision. SBSO officers on the scene said it has not been decided who will investigate the accident.
