Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in California

Pedestrian accidents end the lives of more than 900 people yearly in California. These accidents have increased significantly over the past decade as more people are heading out to travel on foot.

No matter how many safety measures and laws have been enacted to protect those walking, jogging, and running along our roads, we regularly see people lose their lives at an alarming rate. In truth, California’s pedestrian fatality rate is 25% higher than the national average, presenting a real problem for our residents.

In most cases, pedestrians are hit by automobiles driven by distracted, impaired, and reckless motorists. Even though we can be vigilant to protect others who are sharing the road, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to take us into consideration while driving.

As a result, we see multiple people fatally injured in California accidents that were completely avoidable. These accidents often have an overwhelming impact on families who are left to endure the mental, physical, and financial challenges of an unexpected loss.
