Oak Hills, CA – One Airlifted After Fiery Collision Involving Loaded Poultry Truck on 15 Fwy
Oak Hills, CA (January 10, 2022) – A car crashed into the back of a tractor-trailer that was transporting poultry on Sunday, January 9th causing both vehicles to burst into flames.
The accident took place at about 10:10 p.m. in the southbound lanes of 15 Freeway near the truck escape ramp when a Dodge Challenger plowed into the rear-end of a parked tractor-trailer.
The fire quickly consumed the Dodge and spread to the trailer. The truck operator managed to unhook his trailer from the cab and escape unharmed.
A female passenger in the Dodge sustained head trauma as well as a broken leg. A second occupant of the vehicle sustained non-critical injuries.
The southbound lanes were shut down as a medical helicopter landed at the scene to transport the critically injured victim.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department was on the scene for extensive overhaul and extended cleanup.
Our thoughts are with the injured victims and their families at this time. We hope for their full recovery.
Tractor-Trailer Accidents in California
Every year, truck accidents cause injuries to more than 2,900 people in Southern California. Even though most truck accidents are avoidable, they continue to have a hugely negative impact on other drivers sharing the road.
Commercial vehicles are much bigger than other vehicles, which heightens the odds of them causing serious injuries to victims involved in collisions with them. In many cases, victims sustain traumatic injuries that demand hospitalization, therapy, and numerous kinds of medical treatment both immediately and long-term.
The physical and psychological repercussions of tractor-trailer accidents are almost always overwhelming. To make matters even worse, victims are typically forced to spend tens of thousands of dollars on medical bills, go without an income because they are unable to work, and are forced to deal with various other financial burdens from their accidents.
