West Covina, CA – Four Seriously Injured in Car Accident on I-10 Near Holt Ave
West Covina, CA (January 04, 2022) – Four people sustained very serious injuries during a three-car accident on the 10 Freeway in West Covina on Friday, December 31st that also led to the arrest of one of the drivers.
The crash took place at about 11:40 p.m. in the westbound lanes of the interstate in the area of Holt Avenue when a 25-year-old man driving a 2020 Kia Optima rear-ended a 2007 Ford Expedition. The impact caused the driver of the SUV to lose control of the vehicle and crash into the center dividing wall.
The Optima then spun into another lane of traffic and collided with a 2022 Toyota Highlander.
The driver of the Optima, a resident of Palmdale, and his two passengers, a 26-year-old woman, and a 26-year-old man, both from Chicago, received critical injuries. They were taken by ambulance to Pomona Valley Hospital Regional Medical Center.
A male passenger in the Highlander was also in critical condition and taken to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center.
The driver of the Highlander, a 36- year-old woman, was also taken to County/USC Medical Center, for complaints of pain. Her passenger, an unidentified male, endured non-critical abrasions to his chest. It was not immediately known if he was hospitalized.
No one inside the Expedition was injured. It was not immediately clear what charges the driver of the Optima may be facing.
