FRESNO, Calif (December 13, 2021) – Fresno police say a woman was crossing a street with her grandson in her arms when she was injured in a hit-and-run crash on Monday night.
Police say a 66-year-old woman was holding her 3-year-old grandson when she used a crosswalk near Blackstone and Minarets avenues around 6:40 p.m.
A bright blue four-door car, traveling between 20 and 25 mph, struck the grandmother and her grandson as they crossed the crosswalk. According to police, the car had a white company label on the driver’s side door and what appeared to be an Uber sticker on the lower right front windshield.
The driver did not stop after the accident and is currently wanted for felony hit-and-run.
Police say the woman is currently in stable condition at the hospital where she was taken. There is no word on whether her grandson was hurt in the crash.
Hit-And-Run Attorney
In hit and run accidents, the accident victim is often left with the financial burden of the accident in addition to the physical pain and emotional suffering caused by the driver who fled the scene. Many people believe that if they are involved in a hit and run accident, they may not be able to recover damages since the driver is unknown.
Nevertheless, if you are injured in a hit-and-run accident, you may be able to recover compensation for your injuries. The police may be able to locate the at-fault driver, thus allowing you to file a car accident claim against that individual. If the hit-and-run driver is never located, you may still be able to receive compensation under your uninsured motorist policy.
