FRESNO, Calif (December 9, 2021) – Police in Fresno say a woman died after being hit by a car while crossing the road without using a crosswalk on Wednesday. Around 6 p.m., officers responded to the scene at McKinley Avenue and Maple Street Wednesday evening. She was located on the north side of McKinley Avenue and treated at the scene until medical assistance arrived.
Police say the woman was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital after being transported. Police believe the woman was crossing McKinley south to north and not using a crosswalk.
The driver remained on the scene and cooperated with investigators. It is not believed that the driver was impaired at the time of the crash.
