Bakersfield, CA – Drunk Driver Kills 3 in Car Accident on Weedpatch Hwy near Smith Rd
Bakersfield, CA (November 28, 2021) – Three people lost their lives in a head-on accident that happened on a highway in Bakersfield on the morning of Friday, November 26. Just before 2:30 a.m, the wreck was reported to the California Highway Patrol.
One woman was arrested for drunk driving in connection with the crash, officials said. The incident occurred along Weedpatch Highway near Smith Road when a Jeep Cherokee driven by Marcia Luqueleyson, 38, crossed into the northbound lane from the southbound lane and crashed into a Toyota Corolla.
Two passengers present in Luqueleyson’s vehicle, as well as the Corolla’s driver, were pronounced deceased on-site. Luqueleyson suffered severe injuries and was transported to Kern Medical, according to police.
Both northbound and southbound lanes on the Weedpatch Highway were blocked for approximately three hours while emergency crews worked at the scene. No further information has been reported at this time.
