Fresno, CA – Fatal Crash on Hwy 99 near Ashlan Ave Takes One Life
Fresno, CA (August 15, 2021) – A multi-car crash happened in Fresno on the morning of Saturday, August 14 that took one life and caused major traffic delays. The wreck was reported at about 8:15 a.m., according to officials.
The incident occurred on Highway 99 near Ashlan Avenue for currently undisclosed reasons. Officials in Fresno stated that a man hit a Caltrans sweeper crew that caused a chain reaction accident involving a semi-truck and an empty school bus.
Officials said that a Caltrans maintenance crew in a sweeper truck were cleaning the center median in the southbound lanes of Highway 99 near Ashlan Avenue when a Honda Civic collided with the safety truck.
The wreck shut down a portion of the highway for over seven hours on August 14. The victim, identified as a Clovis resident, aged 32, suffered major injuries and was rushed to Community Regional Medical Center for treatment.
He was pronounced deceased a few hours later. Vehicles remained at a standstill for miles while police worked to investigate the crash.
