Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Bakersfield
Pedestrian accidents in the state of California send thousands of people to area hospitals with life-changing or even fatal injuries. In most cases, surviving victims are left with broken bones or brain injuries that cause them tremendous pain and suffering. Many injured pedestrians require hospitalization and have to spend months going back and forth to treatment, therapy, and rehabilitation.
Although there are several treatment options available for victims, they come at an extraordinary cost. Many people are simply unable to afford the costs of care, which forces them to go without the assistance they need to recover.
In addition to this, roughly 6,000 pedestrians die during vehicle-related accidents throughout the United States. Roughly 15% of fatal pedestrian accidents happen right here in California. Even though legislators work to protect pedestrians while sharing roads with drivers, they continue to be victimized daily.
In many cases, pedestrians are struck by vehicles operated by distracted, impaired, and reckless drivers. Although we can be vigilant to protect others who are sharing the road, there is no guarantee that other motorists are going to take us into consideration while driving.
