Bakersfield, CA – Micah Jason Howard Fatally Struck on Hwy 99
Bakersfield, CA (June 03, 2021) – A pedestrian walking along Highway 99 on Monday, May 31st was struck by several vehicles and ultimately died.
The accident took place at about 11:05 p.m. in the northbound lanes of Highway 99 in the area of California Avenue in Bakersfield.
None of the drivers involved in the accident were under the influence. It is unknown at this time if the pedestrian, who has since been identified as 40-year-old Micah Jason Howard, a resident of Bakersfield, was impaired.
An initial investigation determined that Howard was trying to cross the highway from the east shoulder when he was struck by a Jeep traveling 70 miles per hour. He was then struck by several other vehicles.
