Bakersfield, CA – Fatal Crash on Weedpatch Hwy near Wilson Rd
Bakersfield, CA (March 30, 2021) – Officers with the California Highway Patrol are currently investigating a fatal multi-car accident that occurred in southwest Bakersfield on Sunday, March 28. According to reports, it happened just after 8:00 p.m.
Information provided by officials states that the incident took place on Weedpatch Highway near the intersection with Wilson Road. A Chevy pickup truck was attempting to turn left when they collided with an oncoming semi-truck.
The driver of the pickup was identified only as a 78-year-old man. He was ejected from his vehicle during the crash. Paramedics pronounced him deceased at the scene.
The force of the impact caused the semi to veer into oncoming traffic where it struck a Chevy Suburban carrying three people. All of them were transported to a nearby medical center with injuries of an unknown magnitude. Among the injured was a 5-year-old child.
Police in Bakersfield continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.
